AP3984 Primary Side Power Switcher: Diodes Inc. AP3984 is a Primary Side Power Switcher for off-line switch-mode power supplies. The AP3984 has enhanced conversion efficiency, voltage/current accuracy and protection functions. The AP3984 is an ideal solution for consumer and industrial applications. Features include ultra-low standby power <10mW, and built-in high voltage startup circuit which removes an external resistor. This saves cost and improves reliability. Additional features are highly integrated auto-restart for OTP, and open loop with short circuit protection. The AP3984 has built in BJT (Bipolar Junction Transistor). This regulates the output voltage and current in the primary side by piece-wise pulse frequency modulation (p-PFM). It also regulates the primary current peak amplitude modulation (AM) in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). The system operating frequency diminishes linearly from heavy load to light load in each interval of the p-PFM. Operating frequency is fixed at medium load by changing primary current peak amplitude.Learn More
